Three Times The Bride!

11/04/2025

Hi everyone!

If you've landed on this blog, chances are you saw my story where I shared those three wedding photos – yep, all mine – and you're probably wondering, what's going on here? Let me explain how I ended up being a bride three times… to the same man!

So, our first date was on the 1st of September, and we got a bit sentimental about that date. We really wanted to stick to it for our wedding too. But, as these things go, the venue we had our hearts set on – The Millhouse – wasn't available on that date in 2023. So, we decided to wait and go for 1st of September 2024. Totally worth the wait!

Wedding #1

We also really wanted a religious ceremony – it felt like the right way to start our married life, especially since we're both a bit traditional at heart. So, we had a small, intimate ceremony in our little parish Church in Edenderry . Afterwards, we celebrated with a lovely dinner party at The Cliff at Lyons.

I did all the flowers myself – definitely one of my highlights of the day! That and watching Rommel (our dog!) walk down the aisle, and  granny looking completely baffled about why there was a dog in the church.

One of my favourite moments was exchanging our vows – just me and Philip, being all emotional (and we cried a bunch). Oh, and my amazing friend sang at the ceremony – she's an absolute lady with the voice of an angel.

Wedding #2? We're still laughing.

So, I'm originally from Romania but have lived in Ireland for over 20 years, along with my parents and sister (who's now in the UK). Some of our Romanian relatives couldn't travel over, and we had lots of Irish friends eager for a little Romanian adventure. So we thought, "Why not have a second wedding in Romania?"

Well… our 'small' second wedding turned into a party of 70!

It was brilliant. Not your typical Romanian wedding either – just a good mix of Romanians and Irish having a blast together. People still talk about it, which makes me so happy. It was the kind of day where everything just flowed, and all the love and fun were in the air.

And finally – the "big" wedding at The Millhouse.

This was the one we booked right after we got engaged, and it finally happened on 1st September 2024. It was worth every minute of planning. We were surrounded by our nearest and dearest (including Rommel again, of course – who, once again, stole the show but I didn't mind one bit).

I also had a hand in the flowers again, adding my own personal touches – you know I couldn't help myself!

Honestly, it's hard to pick a favourite out of the three – they were each so special in their own way. I ended up wearing five different dresses, had one pair of Jimmy Choos (I was sensible… sort of), and honestly, I couldn't have asked for more.

As for flower preservation… that story starts with bouquet number one – and let's just say it didn't go exactly to plan. I'll chat more about that in the next blog.
